Hi, this is a short Rant this week, but an important one.
Had a great call last night with Eric and the presenters at his Super Conference in November. If you were not on the call, you missed out. With what was said last night, this is going to be a killer conference.
Here’s the link for the conference and a special offer from Eric Paul. http://tinyurl.com/36ebq3
The BIG announcement was Micheal Finny will be a guest presenter and entertainer. I love Micheal and this alone would be enough for me to attend. Also announced was a special monthly payment plan, so you can spread out the cash from now all summer long… what’s your excuse now?
This week I’m going to relate a short story about how I (and you) can find opportunity everywhere… simply by keeping your eyes open. Here’s the video…

I’m going to skip the usual video for this week. It’s been a very busy day and it’s late.
This past week I did two teleseminars and had a conference call, as well as the usual booking and marketing for an upcoming performance with the hypnosis show.
Eric Paul interviewed me about getting publicity and PR for your business on one of the teleseminars.
Just to show how easy this can be at times, once you know how to develop the proper hook (the reason the media would be interested in you) and the proper format of your media materials I want to relate an experience with an editor I had this week.
As mentioned above I was doing promotional marketing in a small town this week. I meet with the local weekly papers editor to place some advertising and give her a couple press releases. Normally they will pick one of the releases and run a few days before the show.
When I mentioned the press release to her, she asked if I wanted it run this week or next. When she realized I had two different releases she said she would run both of them, one this week and one next week.
She was so starved for local news that she jumped on the opportunity to run both releases. Having both releases and photos prepared for her on a disk that she could just pop in the computer. Having them properly formated and written increases the chances highly that they will go in word for word, especially when up against a deadline, as she was. Generally the headline is the only thing they will change. They always want to rewrite the headline it seems, no matter how good it may be.
Yesterday I picked up a copy of this weeks paper and there it was in glorious black and white, just like I wrote it, except the headline as I told you that would be changed.
There is no reason you can’t do the same in your business, develop a good hook, properly format the release and get it in the hands of the editor. It’s just that simple.
As always have a great weekend and a profitable week. – Rick
“Who Wants To Be A Celebrity?” April 15, 2008

Research has proven time and time again that celebrity sales! Regardless of your business you will increase sales by being a celebrity!
But lets face it, few of us will not be strolling down the red carpet to get our Oscar any time soon. However, we can be looked at as a celebrity. In the next few minutes I’ll give you some solid tips and suggestion on creating the appearance of celebrity that really will increase your sales.
Of course the easiest way to create celebrity is to simply attach yourself to a celebrity. it’s no surprise that people like infomercial expert Dan Kennedy often suggest buying a celebrity when consulting on a project.
What may be surprising is that you can often buy a celebrity for only a few thousand dollars. Often stars that have peaked, are very obtainable at reasonable fees others are much higher, for video, voice overs and photo endorsements. Celebrities like Ann B. Davis and Florance Henderson (both of Brady Bunch fame) former sports stars like Refrigerator Perry and people like Ed McMahon or Paul Harvey, both considered to be two of the most trusted people to ever hit the air waves.
It is unlikely that you can just look a celebrity up in a phone book and call them. Most all work through respected agencies who specialize in celebrity endorsement agreements.
The end result is that by attaching your business to a celebrity, you will become a celebrity by proxy.
If your not ready to hire The Donald, quit yet to represent you and you business there are other less costly ways, in fact what I’ll reveal now often have no direct cost involved.
In the small town of Waterford WI, a chiropractic Doctor by the name of Dr. Gregg Nielson, has made an art out of creating celebrity by association.
Dr. Nielson never misses the opportunity when a local or national celebrity appears in town to have a photo opportunity and often even an endorsement of his services, he then uses these in his newspaper and newsletters in entertaining ways. Not all the celebrities that Dr. Nielson comes by are actually famous, he often creates the celebrity with local known people in sports, and of course politics.
You can do the same, in your own business, lets say your in automotive repair, why not create celebrity by performing maintenance services for a local celebrity to insure they make it to the BIG game with no problem. With a little thought you can create celebrity for any business. OK, one other example, lets say your something like a magician, what if you perform at a party for a local politician… instant celebrity, even on a local basis, best of all at no cost.
I’ll give one last thought in this part one of, “Who Wants To Be A Celebrity?”
Again Dr. Nielson uses this idea in his office. This is created celebrity. Created celebrity is simply manufactured.
Dr. Nielson has made his staff, Stefi & Marie, celebrities in his newsletters, he has created personalities and often uses them in a Good Guy (Stefi & Marie) vs Bad Guy, (Dr. Nielson). This is most often done, as if they are pulling a fast one while the Dr. is on vacation or making a special offer behind his back.
We have created a celebrity with our dog “Muffy”, a few years ago we sent a Christmas letter out, from Muffy, telling about all the activities that were going on around the house. Currently Muffy is used in our email signature, during the political season, with her photo and the caption, “I’m Muffy and I endorse this message.” This was suggested by one of our marketing allies, Robert Rees.
Well, I have lots more, so I’ll add a part two soon. Be sure to keep checking back or RSS to keep up with what’s going on in Rick’s world.
